From the beginning, Baldomero Alejos stored all his negatives (glass and acetate) in various boxes, with notes of the months and years in which he had taken them.

In 1970, due to the torrential rains, part of the ceiling of the room collapsed, destroying almost 30% of the negatives, especially the glass ones. Only just over 60,000 images were rescued.

Upon the death of Baldomero, in 1976, the archive became the property of Walter by decision and agreement of the family.

Before 2000, Walter and his friend Juan Mendoza decided to enhance the value of the archive and transferred it to Lima. With its own resources and the support of some institutions, the work of recovering the archive began with restoration experts. This almost 1-year process consisted on cleaning and cataloging the negatives and preserving them in acid-free envelopes and boxes in a especial controlled ambient. Subsequently, in 2006, the negatives and index cards were completely digitized.
